View MorePort Introduction
Yichang Port is located in Yichang City, Hubei Province, China. It is a national first-class open port and an important hub port connecting the upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River's golden waterway. The port, relying on the Three Gorges Project and the Gezhouba Project, has formed a unique geographical advantage. It is an important logistics center for the Three Gorges Dam, a Yangtze River sea intermodal transportation node, and a national multimodal transportation demonstration port in China. It has an important strategic position in serving the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Western Land Sea New Channel, and the development of industries in the central and western regions. Yichang Port is operated and managed by Yichang Port Group, a subsidiary of Hubei Port Group. The port area mainly includes functional areas such as Baiyang Port Area, Yunchi Port Area, Maoping Port Area, and Three Gorges Modern Cruise Center. Among them, Baiyang Port Area is a national demonstration port for intermodal transportation of iron and water, relying on railway dedicated lines to achieve seamless connection between containers and public iron and water transportation; Yunchi Port Area focuses on undertaking container, general cargo, and integrated logistics businesses; Maoping Port Area is located upstream of the Three Gorges Dam and is an important node in the Three Gorges Dam overturning transportation system. It undertakes container, roll on/roll off truck, and bulk cargo transfer tasks, and is also an important distribution center for logistics on the dam. Relying on the golden waterway of the Yangtze River, Yichang Port has a complete container, bulk cargo, general cargo, roll on/roll off and passenger terminal, which can carry out container transportation, ore, coal, phosphorus chemical products, major equipment, automobile roll on/roll off and tourism passenger transportation businesses. The port is equipped with dedicated railway lines, modern warehousing facilities, customs supervision areas, and a smart port management system, which can provide comprehensive services such as bonded warehousing, river sea intermodal transportation, multimodal transportation, and supply chain logistics. The biggest feature of Yichang Port is the Three Gorges Dam flipping logistics system. When the passage of the Three Gorges ship lock is restricted or the waiting time is long, the goods can be quickly transferred through the "Maoping Port (on the dam) - road/railway transportation - Baiyang Port (under the dam)" dam flipping mode, effectively bypassing the bottleneck of the ship lock, improving transportation efficiency, and ensuring smooth logistics in the Yangtze River. This mode has become an important part of the Yangtze River shipping system, and it is also the core competitive advantage of Yichang Port Area compared with other inland ports. In terms of route layout, Yichang Port relies on the Yangtze River waterway to form a nationwide river sea intermodal network. The port has normalized the opening of container ships to ports along the Yangtze River such as Wuhan, Jiujiang, Nanjing, Taicang, and Shanghai, connecting major global shipping markets such as Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, Europe, and the Americas through international hubs such as Shanghai Port. At the same time, relying on railway channels such as Jiaoliu Railway and Hanyi Railway, the port has formed a water rail intermodal transportation network covering central and western regions such as Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Guizhou, achieving coordinated development of river sea intermodal transportation, water rail intermodal transportation, and public water intermodal transportation. The hinterland of Yichang Port covers a vast area including western Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, and the Wuling Mountains, with a focus on serving industries such as phosphorus chemical industry, equipment manufacturing, new materials, automotive parts, new energy, and modern logistics. It is an important industrial logistics platform in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Among them, the Yichang phosphorus chemical industry cluster relies on the port to form a complete system for importing raw materials and exporting products, providing important support for regional industrial development. In recent years, with the continuous promotion of the construction of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the integration of port resources in Hubei Province, Yichang Port has continued to promote the construction of smart ports, green ports, and multimodal transport systems, continuously improving the comprehensive service capabilities of the port. With its unique location advantage in the Three Gorges area, a complete river rail water intermodal transportation system, and core functions of dam crossing logistics, Yichang Port has become an important comprehensive hub port on the Yangtze River's golden waterway, as well as an important strategic node connecting the southwest region with coastal ports and serving the national comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network.
