Port Introduction
Port of Putian (UN/LOCODE: CNPUT) The Port of Putian is located along the coast of Putian City, Fujian Province, China, in the central part of the west coast of the Taiwan Strait. It is an important component of the coastal port system in Fujian Province and a first-class national open port. The port, relying on the excellent natural deep-water coastline resources and superior location conditions of Meizhou Bay, has gradually developed into a comprehensive deep-water port integrating iron ore, coal, liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid chemicals, containers, and general cargo transportation. It occupies an important position in energy transportation, bulk cargo transshipment, and international logistics system along the southeast coast of China. Putian Port, relying on Meizhou Bay, has the characteristics of natural shelter from wind, non freezing and non siltation, and superior water depth conditions, making it one of the few deep-water ports in China. The port is located north of the Fuzhou metropolitan area, south of the Quanzhou and Xiamen economic belts, and east of the Taiwan Strait, with outstanding geographical advantages. Relying on comprehensive transportation infrastructure such as Shenhai Expressway, Puyan Expressway, and dedicated railway lines in the port area, the port has formed a coordinated development system of sea transportation, railway, and highway transportation, which can efficiently connect Fujian Province and the vast economic hinterland of central and eastern China. At present, Putian Port has formed a development pattern dominated by Xiuyu Port Area, Dongwu Port Area, Luoyu Port Area, and Sanguidai Port Area. Among them, Luoyu Port Area is an important iron ore unloading and transit base along the southeast coast of China, with large deep-water ore berths that can meet the berthing needs of ultra large bulk carriers. It is an important node connecting international ore resources with the domestic steel industry. Dongwu Port Area mainly focuses on the transportation of coal, mining and construction materials, and bulk cargo, and undertakes the distribution function of regional energy and industrial raw materials. Xiuyu Port Area focuses on developing liquefied natural gas, liquid chemicals, and comprehensive logistics businesses, and is an important clean energy receiving and storage base along the coast of Fujian. Multiple port areas complement each other's functions and jointly build a modern professional port system. As an important energy transportation hub in Fujian Province, Putian Port undertakes the tasks of unloading, transferring, and storing strategic materials such as iron ore, coal, and natural gas. The port area is equipped with large specialized berths, automated loading and unloading equipment, enclosed conveying systems, and modern warehousing facilities, which can provide comprehensive services such as ore unloading, coal storage and transportation, energy logistics, bonded warehousing, transit trade, and supply chain management, providing stable logistics support for industries such as steel metallurgy, power energy, petrochemicals, and new building materials. In terms of air route network, Putian Port has established important transportation channels covering major resource export regions around the world. The port maintains stable bulk cargo and energy transportation links with countries and regions such as Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, and the Middle East. A large amount of iron ore, coal, and liquefied natural gas are transported to the port area through ocean routes and then distributed to Fujian and surrounding provinces. At the same time, the port actively engages in coastal transportation and water to water transfer services, maintaining close intermodal cooperation with Xiamen Port, Fuzhou Port, and major ports in the Yangtze River Delta region, further enhancing regional logistics coordination capabilities. Relying on the Xiangpu Railway and the Port Area Railway Special Line, Putian Port has formed a highly competitive iron water intermodal transportation system. After unloading from ships in the port area, bulk goods such as ore and coal can be directly transported by railway to inland areas such as Jiangxi, Hunan, and Hubei, achieving efficient connection between ports and hinterland industries. The organic combination of sea and railway transportation has effectively reduced the overall logistics cost and enhanced the radiation capability of ports to the central and eastern regions of China. With the construction of the "the Belt and Road", the integration of Fujian coastal ports and the continuous growth of regional energy demand, Putian Port is constantly improving port infrastructure and modern logistics system, and actively promoting the construction of smart ports, green ports and multimodal transport. In the future, Putian Port will further leverage the resource advantages of Meizhou Bay Deepwater Port, continuously improve its capabilities in bulk cargo, energy transportation, and comprehensive logistics services, and strive to build itself into an important modern deep-water hub port facing the southeast coast, radiating to the hinterland of central China, and connecting the international market.
