Port Introduction

Wuhan Port is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, at the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Han River. It is a national first-class open port, an important hub port in China's inland waterway transportation system, and one of the largest comprehensive ports in Central China. Wuhan Port is composed of multiple port areas such as Yangluo, Zhuankou, Qingshan, and Huashan. It undertakes the transportation tasks of containers, car roll on/roll off, steel, coal, grain, miscellaneous goods, and bulk cargo. It is an important logistics node connecting the domestic and foreign markets in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the central region. Port Overview Wuhan Port has formed a comprehensive transportation system with the Yangtze River Golden Waterway as the main axis and coordinated development of railways, highways, and water transportation, relying on its location advantage as the "thoroughfare of nine provinces". The port is centrally planned and operated by Hubei Port Group, with modern container terminals, multi-purpose terminals, automobile roll on/roll off terminals, and specialized bulk cargo terminals, as well as supporting facilities such as customs supervision zones, comprehensive bonded zones, and logistics parks. It can provide container loading and unloading, bonded warehousing, multimodal transport, cross-border logistics, and supply chain services. Yangluo Port Area is the largest container port area of Wuhan Port and one of the most important foreign trade container ports in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It has modern deep-water berths and dedicated railway lines, and is an important carrier for Wuhan Port's development of river sea and iron rail intermodal transportation. The Zhuankou Port Area mainly serves the Wuhan automobile industry and undertakes the roll on/roll off transportation of commercial vehicles; Relying on the foundation of the steel industry, Qingshan Port Area focuses on the development of ore, steel, and bulk cargo transportation; Huashan Port Area focuses on serving the development of high-tech industries and modern logistics. Airline routes and logistics networks Wuhan Port has formed a transportation network covering domestic ports along the Yangtze River and international markets, and is an important river sea intermodal transportation center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. The river sea intermodal transportation network is the most representative transportation mode of Wuhan Port. The port has opened container ships to ports along the Yangtze River such as Shanghai, Taicang, Nanjing, and Ningbo, and through international hub ports such as Shanghai Port, they can switch to ocean routes to facilitate the export of goods from Central China. The overseas international routes cover major trading markets such as Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia, providing international transportation services for goods such as automotive parts, electronic products, and mechanical equipment, further improving the efficiency of Wuhan's foreign trade logistics. The iron water intermodal transportation system relies on the Yangluo Port railway dedicated line and the Wuhan railway hub, effectively connecting with the China Europe freight train (Wuhan) and the national railway freight network, achieving seamless container and rail iron transfer, and can radiate to central and western regions such as Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, and Xinjiang, providing convenient international logistics channels for inland enterprises. Port functions Wuhan Port is an important component of the national comprehensive transportation system and a crucial node in the logistics organization of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The port has comprehensive service capabilities such as container transportation, car roll on/roll off, steel and ore loading and unloading, grain logistics, bulk cargo transportation, bonded warehousing, supply chain management, multimodal transport, and cross-border logistics, widely serving industries such as automobile manufacturing, equipment manufacturing, steel, electronic information, biomedicine, and new energy. In recent years, Wuhan Port has continued to promote the construction of a smart port, continuously improving operational efficiency in areas such as automated loading and unloading, intelligent scheduling, electronic customs clearance, 5G applications, and digital management. At the same time, relying on open platforms such as the Wuhan section of the Hubei Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Yangluo Comprehensive Bonded Zone, it has further enhanced its international logistics service capabilities. Strategic Position As the shipping center in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the largest comprehensive port in central China, Wuhan Port is an important hub connecting the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the strategy of the rise of central China and the construction of the "the Belt and Road". It is also a comprehensive port integrating river sea combined transport, rail water combined transport and modern logistics in China's inland waterway shipping system. Relying on well-established port facilities, developed comprehensive transportation network, and continuously advancing smart port construction, Wuhan Port has become an important gateway for the opening up of the central and western regions to the outside world, playing an important role in regional economic development and international supply chain system.
