Port Introduction

Changsha Port is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province, in the middle reaches of the Xiang River. It is a national first-class open port and the largest comprehensive inland port and core hub for waterway foreign trade transportation in Hunan Province. The port is centered around the Xia Ning Port Area (Changsha New Port) and is connected to the Yangtze River shipping system through the golden waterway of the Xiang River. It has formed a comprehensive logistics system that integrates port loading and unloading, bonded logistics, iron rail intermodal transportation, river sea intermodal transportation, and modern supply chain services. It plays an important role in Hunan Province's opening up to the outside world and the logistics development of the Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan urban agglomeration. Port Overview Changsha Port is located at the confluence of Xiangjiang River and Laodao River, relying on the Xiangjiang River channel to connect with Yueyang Port to the north and enter the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, and connecting with the Changsha Zhuzhou Xiangtan Manufacturing Base to the south. It is an important gateway for Hunan to connect with the national inland waterway transportation network. The port is constructed and operated by Hunan Port and Shipping Group, with the core port area being Xianing Port Area (Changsha New Port), supporting Changsha Jinxia Bonded Logistics Center, railway dedicated line, and modern logistics park. It can provide comprehensive logistics services such as container transportation, bulk cargo loading and unloading, large cargo transportation, commodity vehicle roll on/roll off, and bonded warehousing. Xianing Port Area is the most important operational area of Changsha Port, with modern container terminals, multi-purpose berths, and railway dedicated lines, enabling direct railway access to the port for loading and unloading operations. It is an important demonstration port area for intermodal transportation of iron and steel in Hunan Province. The port has the ability to transport both large engineering machinery and major equipment, providing long-term services to equipment manufacturing enterprises such as Sany Heavy Industry, Zoomlion Heavy Industry, and Shanhe Intelligent, and providing professional logistics support for the export of large engineering equipment. In recent years, Changsha Port has relied on the China (Hunan) Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area and Jinxia Bonded Logistics Center to continuously improve its smart port, bonded logistics, and cross-border supply chain system, and continuously enhance its international logistics service capabilities. Airline routes and logistics networks Changsha Port has formed a river sea intermodal transportation system covering the Xiang River, Yangtze River, and coastal ports, and is connected to the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the central and western regions through a railway network. River sea intermodal transportation is the most important mode of transportation in Changsha Port. The port has opened container ships to ports along the Yangtze River such as Yueyang Port, Wuhan Port, Nanjing Port, Shanghai Port, and Taicang Port. Foreign trade goods can be cleared in Changsha and transported to coastal ports through river sea intermodal transportation to be loaded onto ocean going vessels, realizing the convenience of Hunan goods going abroad. The iron water intermodal transportation network relies on the Changsha Xingang Railway Special Line and the Beijing Guangzhou, Shanghai Kunming and other railway trunk lines to achieve efficient connection between railways, highways and waterways. It can serve equipment manufacturing, engineering machinery, automobile and bulk cargo transportation in the central region, and further connect ports in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the international shipping network. In addition, Changsha Port is also an important bulk material distribution center in Hunan, responsible for the transit and transportation of goods such as coal, steel, ore, and building materials, while serving the logistics needs of key industries such as engineering machinery, electronic information, new materials, and new energy. Port functions Changsha Port has comprehensive functions such as container transportation, export of engineering machinery, transportation of large equipment, roll on/roll off of commercial vehicles, loading and unloading of bulk cargo, bonded logistics, multimodal transport, and supply chain services. It is an important component of Hunan Province's modern logistics system. Relying on the Xiangjiang Golden Waterway, Free Trade Zone, and Bonded Logistics Platform, the port continues to promote the construction of a smart port, continuously improving operational efficiency in electronic customs clearance, digital logistics, intelligent scheduling, and green port construction, providing enterprises with more efficient and secure logistics services. Strategic Position As the largest inland port in Hunan Province and the core hub of water transportation and foreign trade in the province, Changsha Port undertakes the important mission of connecting the Xiangjiang Economic Belt, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. It is an important node for river sea and iron rail intermodal transportation in the central region. With the construction of the high-grade waterway on the Xiangjiang River, the development of the pilot free trade zone, and the continuous improvement of the modern multimodal transport system, Changsha Port is continuously enhancing its international logistics service capabilities, becoming an important comprehensive logistics hub for Hunan to integrate into the domestic and international dual circulation and promote high-quality regional economic development.
