Port Introduction
Australian commercial port. Located downstream of the Tamal River in the northern part of Tasmania Island in the southeast of the country, northwest of the port city, facing the Bass Strait. It is about 60 nautical miles west of Devonport Port and about 210 nautical miles west of Melbourne Port. The main port areas are all located near George Town at the mouth of the river, about 22 nautical miles away from the city center. The port is affected by tides, with an average tidal range of 3.8 meters. When the waterway depth is at zero water level, vessels with a maximum draft of 9.0 meters are allowed to enter the port. During high tide, vessels with a draft of 11.1 meters are allowed to enter the port. There are the following main port areas entering the port from the estuary:; INSPECTION HEAD and BEAUTY corner ports are located on the left bank of the river, about 11 kilometers away from the mouth of the river. The former has two berths with a water depth of 9.9 meters, used for loading and unloading bulk grain, general cargo, oil, etc., while the latter is the "T" shaped dock of the Australian Maritime Institute with a water depth of 9.7 meters. Bell Bay Port Area, located south of George Town; On the left bank, 11 kilometers away from the river mouth, there are 5 berths. Berth 1 is 152 meters long from east to west, with a minimum water depth of 10.8 meters, used for unloading imported bauxite. There are 2 12 ton shore cranes on the dock; Berth 2 is 87 meters long with a water depth of 8.4 meters along the edge, used for berthing roll on/roll off ships and loading/unloading containers. There is a 40 ton mobile crane and a 25 ton shore crane on the dock; Berth 3 is 152 meters long, berth 5 is 314 meters long, with a water depth of 11-12 meters. It is used for loading and unloading general cargo, bulk cargo, and has one crane for each of 12.5 tons, 19 tons, 40 tons, and 50 tons on the dock; Berth 4 is only 26 meters long and is used for loading and unloading finished oil products. Changdi Port Area, located on the right bank of the river, 16 kilometers away from the estuary, has three berths for loading and unloading oil and sawdust, with a water depth of 11-12 meters. Among them, WOALDCHIP has two berths, each 217 meters and 229 meters long, with one loader on each dock and an efficiency of 700 tons per hour. Launceston Port Area, located north of City Bridge, has five docks, namely King's Wharf, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Wharf, etc., with a water depth of only 3-5 meters. There are over 10 intermediate and above berths in Hong Kong for importing bauxite, petroleum, exporting aluminum blocks, timber, sawdust, bulk grain, etc.
