Port Introduction

Australian commercial port. Located at the top of Port Phillip Bay in southeastern Victoria, at the mouth of the Yala River, south of the port city, facing the Bass Strait. The port area includes the Yarra River Port Area, Yarra River Port Area, New Port Area, and Williamstown Port Area. Melbourne City Port Area and Webb Port Area, among other parts. The Yarra River Port Area is located near the center of Melbourne City and is an old port area. Ships enter the port along the mouth of the Yarra River. The water depth of the waterway is 9.7 meters at low tide, and there are more than 30 berths from east to west: the South Pier, located on the south bank of the Yarra River. Among them, berths 15-32 have a water depth of 8.5-9.4 meters along the edge and are used as coastal and offshore general cargo and bulk cargo terminals. North Wharf, located on the north bank of the Yara River, has 17 berths, among which berths 9-17 have a water depth of 8.1-9.7 meters, berths 12-17 are accessible by railway, and berth 9 is a loose cement wharf. Victoria Harbour Pool is a harbor pool controlled by the north bank, extending in a northeast southwest direction. There is also a small protruding embankment extending from the northeast coast to the southwest in the harbor pool. There are 21 berths along the edge of the harbor pool, and 3 berths extending from the northwest coast to the riverbank. The water depth along the edge is 8.5-11.0 meters. Its berths 1-4 are adjacent to berths 13-17 of the North Pier, and there is also railway access to the pier; Berths 5 and 6 are used for loading and unloading New Zealand and coastal roll on/roll off ships; There is railway access to berths 16-24 on the northwest coast; The Appleton Harbor Pool is also a water area controlled by the north bank of the Yarra River. There are five berths on its northwest bank, namely B, C, D, E, and F. The total length of the dock line is 975 meters, with a water depth of 10.3 meters. The dock is also accessible by railway, with berth D being a container terminal; Swinson Port Terminal is a water area extending northward from the north bank, with a total of 7 berths on both sides. The berth line has a total length of 1650 meters and a water depth of 13.1 meters, making it the most important container loading and unloading area in Hong Kong. The Yaraville Port Area is located on the west bank downstream of the Yaraville Port Area, with 6 bulk cargo berths along the river and a water depth of 7.1-10.4 meters. It is a loading and unloading area for bulk sugar, urea, bulk fertilizer, and sulfur; To its south is the Holdan Oil Port Pool, a berth with a depth of 10 meters. The new port area is located on the west bank of the Yala River estuary, and there is the Maribi Port Petrochemical Terminal with a depth of 10 meters. The Williamstown Port Area is located on a cape on the west bank of the river mouth, with a northeast extending breakwater (213 meters on the inner side) and a Gillibrand Pier 89 meters southeast of it, with a water depth of 11.8 meters, used for the import of crude oil and liquefied gas. The Melbourne Port Area is located to the north of the bay, opposite the Yarra River Port Area. It has two protruding dikes that extend southward, with two berths on each side at a depth of 10-11 meters. The eastern dike is used for car and passenger crossings, while the two dikes are dedicated to oil companies. The Webb Port Area is located in the western part of the Yara River estuary, with 5 berths and a water depth of only 7-11 meters. It is used for loading and unloading containers for coastal and ocean going roll on/roll off ships, as well as lifting ships. There are over 80 berths in Hong Kong, including more than 60 deep-water berths including 8 fully loaded container berths. Container loading and unloading ranks first in the southern hemisphere. Outside the port, the waterway extends 514 nautical miles to Adelaide Harbour, 1652 nautical miles to Fremantle, 520 nautical miles to Sydney, 1644 nautical miles to Auckland, New Zealand, and 5075 nautical miles to Hong Kong.
