The region has a developed economy and a complete range of industrial categories. The petrochemical and steel industries play an important role in China, while the building materials, machinery, chemical, electronics, electrical, food, textile and other industries are well-developed. Navigation assistance information Channel: Zhoushan Port has numerous entrances and exits in the port area, with multiple waterways of different depths, which is conducive to the free navigation of different ship types in multiple directions. With Zhoushan Port as the center, there are currently more than 10 waterways in the east, south, west, and north that can accommodate ships of over 10000 tons. The water depth is stable, and it is not frozen all year round. The main navigation facilities are complete, which can adapt to the comprehensive development of Zhoushan Port and the navigation of large ships. East Channel: From Luotou Waterway, passing through Xiazhimen to the East China Sea, the narrowest entrance is about 750 meters wide. There is a shallow bank outside the entrance of the channel, with a minimum depth of 17.9 meters and a high tide depth of 21.4-22.4 meters. 150000 ton ships can freely enter and exit, and 200000 ton ships can take advantage of the tide to enter the port. If slightly improved, the depth of the channel can reach 23 meters. South Channel: Turning south from Luotou Waterway, entering and exiting through Tiao Zhumen, and connecting with coastal ports in Zhejiang and Fujian, with a shallowest depth of 16 meters, it can accommodate ships of 100000 tons. West Channel: From Jinting Waterway and Xihoumen Waterway to the west, entering Hangzhou Bay, it can accommodate ships of less than 35000 tons; In addition, there are waterways such as Wushamen and Fulimen that can accommodate ships of 50000 to 100000 tons; The eastern international route, heading north through Dongting, Langgang, Shengshan, and Xiaobanmen waterway, can accommodate large ships weighing 200000 to 300000 tons. Port planning In October 1997, based on the natural conditions, shoreline distribution, and various functions of the Zhoushan Port area, the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government, in consultation with the Ministry of Transport, approved the "Overall Layout Plan of Zhoushan Port", dividing Zhoushan Port into eight major port areas: Dingmei, Shenjiamen, Laotangshan, Gaoting, Qushan, Sijiao, Lvhuashan, and Yangshan. Zhoushan Port is an important component of the Shanghai International Shipping Center, serving as a major transit port for energy, raw materials, and foreign trade materials needed for industrial development in the Yangtze River Delta and along the Yangtze River. It is an important support for the economic and social development of Zhoushan City and its opening up to the outside world. Its development direction is a comprehensive port characterized by water transfer and industrial ports. The main functions of Zhoushan Port include loading, unloading, storage, transit, and reloading; Transportation organization and management functions; Lingang Industrial Development Function; Modern logistics functions; Comprehensive service function; Communication and information functions; Commercial, financial, tourism, and urban living functions; Fishery function; National defense and security functions. In order to further reflect the management spirit of the Port Law and adapt to the changes in the development situation of ports, the new overall plan for ports is currently being adjusted.
