Port Introduction
Skikda, formerly known as "Philippville". A port city in northeastern Algeria, an emerging industrial center and an important oil and gas export port. On the south coast of the Gulf of Stora in the Mediterranean Sea. The population is 141000 (1983). The former site of the ancient city of Lusicada during the Roman era retains the remains of a theater from that era. The current city was built around 1838. The trade of wool, leather, and livestock is flourishing, with industries such as brewing and leather making. In the 1970s, modern refineries, natural gas liquefaction plants, and petrochemical joint ventures were successively built. The annual processing capacity of the refinery is 16.15 million tons. There are oil pipelines and gas pipelines that connect to Masdar and Hasilumel respectively. The port area can accommodate 50000 ton sea vessels. Export petroleum products, liquefied natural gas, iron ore, livestock products, etc.
