Introduction to Djen Port Djen Djen port is located on the eastern coast of Algeria, near Dj é l. The Algerian government has partnered with DP World to ensure the development of Djen Djen port operations during a 30-year franchise period. The joint venture company will invest in expanding the new Djen Djen factory located in eastern Algeria over time based on market demand. Djen Djen has the potential to handle the next generation of large vessels and become the main transshipment center in the region. The port is close to all major east-west trade routes and provides a great option for the crowded southern European center. The facility has a draft depth of 17 meters and is one of the few Mediterranean terminals with easy access and minimal deviation. This port was originally designed to handle steel transportation in the Bella region. The Algerian government is planning to develop Djen Djen into a large container handling facility for the transfer and shipment of goods. Although the road leading to the port is currently limited, the plan is to directly enter the new east-west highway, which is expected to be completed in 2011.
