Port Introduction

The southernmost port of Papua New Guinea. The maximum draft is 7.8 meters. The load density of water is 1025. The highest tidal range is 1 meter, and the lowest tidal range is 0.2 meters. The prevailing southeast and northwest monsoons. Without pilotage, communication is carried out using radio very high frequency channels 16, 12, 8, and 6, with the call sign 'SAMARAI PORT CON'. The working hours are from 7:00 to 23:00, and the mining and oil tankers are contacted. The working hours can last for 24 hours. Port service facilities include ship repair, refueling, small boats, medical care, fresh water, supplies, repatriation, no dry dock, towing, and sewage discharge. The main dock is located at 10 degrees 36 minutes 64 seconds south latitude and 150 degrees 39 minutes 6 seconds east longitude, with a length of 93.2 meters and a width of 12.8 meters. The transit warehouse covers an area of 948 square meters, while the open-air warehouse covers an area of 140 square meters. The dock can carry a load of 0.97 tons per square meter and sometimes receives a limited supply of fresh water on the dock. Diesel fuel is supplied through oil pipes by Shell Oil Company. There is a private waterfront dock and a small boat dock on the west side of the main dock. The load-bearing capacity of the small boat dock is 0.97 tons per square meter.
