Coastal ports in the western region of South Island, New Zealand. The maximum draft is 5.9 meters, and the load density of water is 1025. The highest tidal range is 2.74 meters, and the lowest tidal range is 1.52 meters. The prevailing trend is southwest or east wind. Compulsory pilotage for foreign vessels. Working hours are from 08:00 to 21:00. Due to the detailed changes in tides and the state of Shazhou, ships entering the port need to prepare documents at Whangarci Port. The port service facilities include small boats, fresh water, supplies, medical care, repatriation, no ship repair, dry dock, refueling, towing, and sewage discharge. There are three inland berths in the port with a total length of 610 meters and a maximum draft of 5.65 meters. It is planned to build a deep-sea port 6.43 kilometers north of the port for exporting coal and other materials.
