Port Introduction
Port of Uruguay. Located on the east bank of the mouth of the Uruguay River in the western part of the country, using the Western Zone 4 standard. The maximum draft is 7.92 meters. Load density 1000. No tidal changes. The prevailing wind is southeast wind. Compulsory pilotage. Contact using VHF channels 16, 11, and 9. Working hours are from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 13:00 to 17:00. The service facilities include ship repair, fresh water, motorboats, food, medical facilities, etc. There are no tugboats, fuel tanks, sewage, dry docks, repatriation, etc. There is one cement breakwater in the harbor, with a front water depth of 7.92 meters. Equipped with 3 electric cranes for exporting frozen meat. When the main berth is occupied, the adjacent berth can be used. The railway tracks on the breakwater have been scrapped and are no longer in use. On the government managed embankment, there is a conveyor belt installed for loading bulk grains onto ships. Three enclosed grain silos with a capacity of 30000 tons.
