View MorePort Introduction
Houston Port is located in the southeastern part of Texas, on the plain of the northwest coast of Galveston Bay, and is connected to Mexico through an 80 kilometer long canal. Houston is an artificial port and currently the largest oil and wheat export port in the United States, with a lower throughput than New Orleans and New York ports. Houston Port is the largest foreign cargo handling port in the United States, and after domestic cargo, it is also the second largest port in the United States, second only to South Louisiana Port. From a global perspective, Houston Port also ranks 10th. In addition to cargo functions, there are also numerous oil refineries along the coast of Houston Port. The Houston Port Area is located along the 25 nautical mile canal from the port city to Beton, with over 100 docks, nearly half of which are public docks, while the rest are dedicated docks for refineries, chemical plants, steel plants, and other enterprises such as grain and cotton export companies. There are over 50 general cargo berths in Hong Kong, of which about 40 are owned by the Port Authority. Most of them are located near the canal banks near the city center, and there are about 30 deep-water general cargo berths. The main container terminals of Houston Port are located at the Barsburg Port in the northern part of Galveston Bay, about 40 kilometers away from the city center, with four berths. There is currently only one berth near the city center, and the 5th and 6th container berths are under construction. There are 3 berths at Houston Port and 3 berths at Jacinto Port, both of which are accessible by railway. There are five grain export terminals, namely the 14th and 15th terminals of the Port Authority, which can accommodate two ocean going ships at the same time. There are 175000 tons of grain warehouses on the terminals; The grain terminal of Yiguite Export Company also has the same facilities; The Gotpasto Grain Terminal has a 300000 ton grain warehouse. The grain terminal has a total capacity of 800000 tons of grain warehouses and is the second largest grain export port in the United States. There are seven ore terminals with advanced facilities. The oil terminal occupies the first place in the port, with over 70 oil supply and crude oil berths distributed along the canal. It is one of the few billion ton ports in the world, with an international trade volume of 5680 tons.
