Port Introduction

HARWICH/Harwich# Port nature: Hekou Port# Longitude and latitude: 51 ° 57'N, 001 ° 17'E# Located at the confluence of the ORWELL and STOUR rivers on the southeast coast of the United Kingdom (full name: THE UNITED KINGDOM OF G-REAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND), about 20km from IPSWICH port and facing Felixstowe across the river, it is one of the main commercial ports in the southern part of the UK and a train ferry terminal between the UK and ZEEBRUGGE, Belgium. The port has a temperate maritime climate, mild and humid, with frequent fog in autumn and winter. The annual average temperature is around 10-20 ℃. The average annual rainfall is about 1000mm. The average tidal range is 6.9m during major floods and 1.8m during minor floods. There are warehouses and transit sheds on the dock. Paxton Wharf has three roll on/roll off ship berths and one container ship berth. To the west of the inner harbor is the train ferry terminal, which loads group cargo bound for the ports of Zeebrugge in Belgium and Dunkirk in France. There are regular passenger and freight ships between Hong Kong and ports such as Hamburg, Bremen, Rotterdam, and Antwerp. In 1992, the container throughput was 205000 TEUs, with an annual cargo throughput capacity of approximately 20 million tons. The main imported goods are automobiles, timber, fruits, fish, food, and groceries, while the main exported goods are machinery, wool, and groceries.
