Felixstowe is located at the confluence of the ORWELL and STOUR rivers on the southeast coast of the United Kingdom (full name: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), about 18km from IPSWICH, and is the largest container port in the UK. As early as July 1967, it became the first specialized container port in the UK, and in 1972, it launched container water rail intermodal transportation, connecting with major industrial cities in the UK to form a network. The port is a loading and unloading terminal for container ships on the British Atlantic route. Every day, there are container branch lines connecting with Hull, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff, Southampton, London and other ports. It is also a car ferry terminal from the UK to the European continent and Scandinavia. The port has a temperate maritime climate, mild and humid, with frequent fog in autumn and winter. The annual average temperature is around 10-20 ℃. The average annual rainfall is about 1000mm. The average high tide during major floods is 6.9m, and the average low tide during minor floods is 1.8m. The main dock berths in the port area are as follows: dock name, berth (s), shoreline length (m), maximum water depth (m), DRY CARGO DOCK (dry cargo dock), 3 518 5.4 Container (container), 3 618 10OIL QUAY (oil terminal), 2 335 108 1471 Loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, mobile cranes, container cranes, truck cranes, forklifts, trailers, and roll on/roll off facilities. Hong Kong has multi-purpose, container, roll on/roll off, and roll on/roll off terminals with modern loading and unloading equipment. The container terminal has a maximum reliable capacity of 50000 deadweight tons for container ships, which can load and unload three ultra wide Panamax ships simultaneously with seven gantry cranes. A 25000 deadweight ton oil tanker at the oil terminal. The newly built 40000 m ∧ warehouse at the port in September 1993 has been completed and put into operation, used for storing news paper, high-quality paper, kraft paper liner boards, and forest industry products. The warehouse has modern equipment and can be loaded and unloaded under any weather conditions. This port is the primary port for importing high-quality paper products that require careful handling in the UK. It collaborates with Finland Transit Limited to use the latest computer system, along with laser strip computer readers, to track goods in the warehouse until they finally leave. In addition, there is a dangerous goods database and cargo booking system. This system can be connected to other ports, container freight stations, and airports. The main imported goods at the port include fertilizers, machinery, paper, fruits, beer, and chemicals, while the main exported goods include motorcycles, alcohol, metal products, food, and chemicals. In 1992, the cargo throughput was 16 million tons, and in 1994, the container throughput reached 1.746 million TEUs, an increase of 6.6% compared to 1993, ranking fourth in Europe (first Rotterdam, second Hamburg, third Antwerp).
