View MorePort Introduction
Tanga is located in the Tanga Bay on the northeast coast of Tanzania (full name: THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA), on the west side of the Pemba Strait, and is the second largest port in Tanzania. The port mainly exports sisal. Jianma is mainly produced along the eastern coast and the central railway line, and is an important strategic material. Tanzania produces 200000 tons of sisal annually, accounting for approximately 61% of the world's total production and ranking first in the world. In the 1950s, the export value of sisal accounted for about 3/5 of the total export value. Later, due to the large-scale production of synthetic fibers, the price of sisal plummeted and the output decreased year by year. The main use of sisal is as a raw material for making ship ropes, paper, alcohol, pectin, and pesticides. Transportation is mainly based on highways. The port is 3.7km away from the airport and there are regular flights to Dar es Salaam and other places. The port has a tropical grassland climate, with northeast winds prevailing from December to February of the following year and southwest winds prevailing from April to October. The highest annual average temperature is about 32 ℃ in January, and the lowest is about 20 ℃ in July. There is very little fog every year. The average annual rainfall is about 1300mm, with the rainy season from April to May. The average tidal range is about 3m. There are three main berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 692m and a maximum water depth of 17m. The loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, mobile cranes, truck cranes, gantry cranes, barges, and tugboats, among which the maximum lifting capacity of the mobile crane is 40 tons. The port area has a storage area of approximately 30000 square meters. The maximum capacity of the terminal to accommodate bulk carriers with a load capacity of 100000 tons. The Hong Kong transit zone was established in 1967. The main export goods are sisal, wood, tea, cinchona bark, animal skins, wood wool, and coffee, while the imported goods mainly include food, machinery, petroleum, metal products, and beverages.
