Dar es Salaam

Dar es Salaam is located in the Dar es Salaam Bay on the eastern coast of Tanzania (full name: THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA), bordering the western side of the Indian Ocean and about 35 miles northeast of Zanzibar Island. It is the largest seaport in Tanzania and one of the famous ports in East Africa. It is the capital and national political, economic, cultural, and transportation center of Tanzania, as well as an important political city in Africa where many important conferences are held. The port has developed transportation and has a central railway that runs across Tanzania, starting from Dar es Salaam in the east and ending at Kigoma on the shores of Lake Tanganyika in the west.; The other one is the Tanzania Zambia Railway, which was built in September 1975 with the assistance of the Chinese government. It starts from Dar es Salaam and has a total length of 1860km (977km within Tanzania). The completion of this railway not only connects the transportation between Tanzania and Zambia, but also promotes the development of Tanzania's national economy. In inland and remote areas, highways are mainly used. The industrial output value of the port accounts for about half of the national total, with major industries including oil refining, textiles, machinery, fertilizers, food, cement, locomotive repair, agricultural tool maintenance, and thermal power generation. The port is about 3.6km away from the international airport and has regular flights to major cities around the world and China. The port has a tropical grassland climate, with north and northeast winds prevailing from December to February of the following year, south and southwest winds prevailing from April to July, and east winds prevailing from August to November. The highest average temperature in January is 31 ℃, and the lowest in July is 19 ℃. From August to September, there are occasional strong winds and very little fog. The average annual rainfall is about 1000mm, and the rainy season is from March to May. The average tidal height is 3.1m for high tide and 0.94m for low tide. The waters of Hong Kong are open, with an area of about 950000 square meters. The harbor has good conditions for avoiding wind and waves, and even if there are strong winds and waves outside, it will not have a significant impact on the harbor. There are 11 main berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 2016 meters and a maximum water depth of 10 meters. The loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, gantry cranes, mobile cranes, floating cranes, container cranes, barges, tugboats, and roll on/roll off facilities, with a maximum lifting capacity of 120 tons. The bulk terminal can reliably accommodate 30000 deadweight ton bulk carriers, while the oil tanker pier can accommodate 36000 deadweight ton oil tankers. The anchorage of the large ship has a water depth of 15 meters. In 1992, the container throughput was 87000 TEUs, and the annual cargo throughput reached 4 million tons. The main export goods include sisal, tea, cotton, soybean cake, wood, coffee, copper, and oilseeds, while the main import goods include steel, cotton products, food, machinery, petroleum, and vehicles. During holidays, Christmas and International Labor Day are closed all day.
