View MorePort Introduction
Cape Town is located at the southern entrance of Table Bay on the southwest coast of South Africa, 52km south of Cape of Good Hope, on the southeastern side of the Atlantic Ocean. Also known as Table Bay. It is the legislative capital of South Africa and one of its major ports. Founded in 1652, it is the second largest city in South Africa. The port has an important geographical location and is a must pass route for Europe along the west coast of Africa to reach the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is the financial and business center of South Africa. The main industries include brewing, tobacco, oil refining, chemical industry, leather, shipbuilding, and papermaking. Transportation is well-developed, with railways providing direct access to the administrative capital of Pretoria and highways connecting various parts of the country. The port is about 20km away from the airport, with daily flights to Johannesburg and connections to foreign flights. The port has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with northwest winds prevailing from April to September in winter and large swells occurring at sea. Southeast winds prevail from October to March of the following year in summer. The highest annual average temperature is about 20 ℃, and the lowest is about 11 ℃. The average annual rainfall is about 500mm. The average tidal height is 1.8m for high tide and 0.3m for low tide. There is a breakwater in Hong Kong, which is 1567m long. In the Table Bay area near Cape of Good Hope, even in calm weather, there are often swells coming from the southwest, so it is not suitable to anchor during winter. There are various types of loading and unloading equipment, including shore cranes, floating cranes, ship loaders, tugboats, and roll on/roll off facilities. The maximum lifting capacity of the shore crane is 40 tons, the floating crane can reach 200 tons, and there is also a 203.2m diameter oil pipeline for loading and unloading. The port area has a loading and unloading area of 50000 square meters, a barn capacity of about 30000 tons, a cold storage capacity of 27000 tons, a minimum temperature of 60 ℃, and a container yard area of 970000 square meters, which can store 4858 TEUs. Loading and unloading efficiency: 1000 tons of grain per hour. In 1994, the container throughput was 23.1 TEUs, an increase of 14% compared to 1993, with an annual cargo throughput capacity of approximately 70 million tons. The main export goods are wool, leather, wine, dried and fresh fruits, feed, eggs, corn, fish oil, and mineral sand, while the imported goods mainly include wood, machinery, wheat, automobiles, textiles, crude oil, and miscellaneous goods. I don't work on New Year's Day and Christmas during holidays.
