View MorePort Introduction
Maputo is located at the mouth of the Espirito Santo river on the southeast coast of Mozambique (full name: THE REPUBLIC OF MOZAMBIQUE), on the west coast of Maputo Bay, adjacent to the southwest side of the Indian Ocean. Also known as LOURENCO MARQUES, it is the largest seaport in Mozambique, founded in 1544. Due to the completion of the railway to South Africa in 1855, the port rapidly developed and became one of the largest ports in East Africa. It is now the capital and national political and economic center of Mozambique, with a strategic location at the crossroads of the Indian Ocean and the South Atlantic Ocean. It is also the largest industrial base in the country, with major industries including oil refining, textiles, sawmilling, chemistry, sugar production, food processing, and cement. It also has the largest cashew nut processing plant in the country. In addition to southern Mozambique, the hinterland of the port also includes Zimbabwe, South Africa and Eswatini. The port is about 4km away from Maputo International Airport and has regular flights to destinations around the world. The port has a tropical grassland climate, with southwest or south winds prevailing in the morning and northeast or southeast winds in the afternoon. The annual average maximum temperature is 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is 14 degrees Celsius. The average annual rainfall is about 800mm, and the rainy season is from December to February of the following year. The high tide is 3.4m and the low tide is 2.4m. There are 11 main dock berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 3275 meters and a maximum water depth of 12.8 meters. There are various types of loading and unloading equipment, including shore cranes, mobile cranes, container cranes, heavy cranes, ship loaders, conveyor belts, and tugboats. Among them, the maximum lifting capacity of the shore crane is 60 tons, the heavy crane reaches 80 tons, and the maximum power of the tugboat is 2350 kW. The port area has a bulk cargo yard capacity of 430000 tons, containers can store 1300 TEUs, and oil tank capacity is 200000 tons. Loading and unloading efficiency: 2900 tons of grains per day, 5000 tons of coal per day, and 10000 tons of sugar per day. The Hong Kong transit zone was established in 1980. In 1992, the container throughput reached 13000 TEUs, with an annual cargo throughput of approximately 25 million tons, of which about 90% were transit goods. The main export goods are coal, iron, asbestos, chromium, manganese, corn, sucrose, fruits, sisal, and cotton, while the imported goods are wood, fertilizers, fuel, machinery, and grain. I don't work on New Year's Day during holidays, but I still work normally on other holidays.
