Tema is located on the southern coast of Ghana (full name: THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA), on the north side of the Gulf of Guinea, about 26km away from the capital Accra. It was founded in 1967 and has been expanded to become the largest artificial seaport in West Africa. The port is an emerging industrial zone in the capital, with large sleeve refining plants, steel mills, and electrolytic aluminum plants, as well as industries such as automobile repair, cement, cigarettes, textiles, and food. The capital city of Accra has an international airport with regular flights to destinations around the world. The port has a tropical rainforest climate. The highest annual average temperature is about 34 ℃ in February, and the lowest is about 15 ℃ in August. The average annual rainfall is about 200Omm. There are 14 main berths in the port area, with a coastline of 3600m and a maximum water depth of 10.5m. The loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, mobile cranes, high-speed conveyor belts, and grain suction machines. The port area has a warehouse capacity of about 100000 tons and a cocoa specific cargo shed with a storage capacity of 60000 tons. Bagged cocoa beans can be directly delivered to the cabin through a conveyor belt. The maximum depth of the anchorage for large ships is 18 meters. In 1992, the container throughput was 83000 TEUs, and the annual cargo throughput capacity was about 5 million tons. The main export goods are cocoa, timber, peanut kernels, coffee, bauxite, and manganese ore. The main import goods include crude oil, cement, automobiles, building materials, tractors, and miscellaneous goods. Cocoa exports account for approximately 67% of the total export value, with major trading partners including Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, and Nigeria.
