It is an important coastal port in Shandong Province and a national first-class open port. The port relies on excellent natural deep-water conditions, which are not frozen or silted all year round, and can meet the entry and exit operations of ships under 50000 tons. It is one of the important comprehensive ports in the Bohai Rim region. Penglai Port is currently operated and managed by Yantai Port Group Penglai Port Co., Ltd., which undertakes passenger and freight transportation, bulk cargo transportation, warehousing logistics, and comprehensive port services. The port area has multiple general berths and dedicated passenger and roll off berths, with relatively complete port infrastructure and storage yard resources. The main types of goods at the port include coal, timber, cement, steel, ore, and various miscellaneous goods, while also undertaking passenger and roll on/roll off transportation business in the Bohai Bay. In terms of route layout, Penglai Port has long operated a passenger roll on/roll off transportation route from the Shandong Peninsula to the Liaodong Peninsula, which is an important maritime passage connecting Shandong and Northeast China. In terms of freight transportation, stable connections are maintained with the Bohai Rim Port Group and major coastal ports in China, providing transportation support for the industrial, building materials, energy, and logistics industries in the northern part of the Shandong Peninsula. Port supporting services include cargo loading and unloading, warehousing and storage, transshipment, passenger and freight roll on/roll off transportation agency, ship agency, foreign ship agency, cargo handling service, tugboat service, pilotage service, and container yard operation. It is an important component of the Yantai Port system.
