The port area relies on the construction of natural deep-water channels and is connected to the Shanghai Lingang New Area through the Donghai Bridge, solving the problem of large ocean going ships entering and leaving Shanghai Port being limited by the water depth of the Yangtze River estuary channel, becoming one of the most important international deep-water ports in China.
