Port Introduction
Australian iron ore export port. Located in the southeast of the country, on the northwest coast of Tasmania Island, in the Sawell Bay, facing the Bass Strait. About 40 nautical miles east of Port Bernie, about 150 nautical miles north of West Port, and about 185 nautical miles from Melbourne Port; There is a mining road leading to the port. The port is mainly an artificial island loading dock located 1.8 kilometers offshore, with a maximum water depth of 15.25 meters at the front of the dock, capable of accommodating 100000 ton ore ships. There is a 1.8-kilometer wharf connected to the shore for stacking, with two belt conveyors on the wharf and an hourly efficiency of 2750 tons; There is also a 25.5mm oil unloading pipe connected to the onshore oil depot on the wharf, and there is an inverted "L" - shaped breakwater extending northeastward on the eastern shore, with a small boat dock on the inner side of the "L". This port is a specialized port for exporting iron ore from Tasmania Island. Australia has abundant iron ore reserves, with proven reserves reaching 35 billion tons, ranking fifth in the world. The iron content is as high as about 65%, and it is buried shallowly, making it easy for open-pit mining. At present, the annual output is about 110 million tons, with the majority of exports, second only to Brazil in terms of export volume. It is mainly produced in Xio, Hedland Port and Dampier as its main export ports, and Hong Kong is also one of the export ports for Austrian iron ore.
