Maersk has announced the launch of the CAX service, a new ocean route connecting the Caribbean and Northern Europe. As part of its efforts to strengthen the Latin American ocean network, the new CAX service will replace the current CRX and COEX services, aiming to deliver improved reliability, faster transit times, and broader market connectivity.

Service rotation:

Antwerp – Southampton – Hamburg – Bremerhaven – Newark – Manzanillo (Panama) – Puerto Antioquia* – Moin – Manzanillo (Panama)

* Puerto Antioquia will be served via a feeder connection from Manzanillo (PA) until the new terminal becomes fully operational.

CAX will offer efficient and direct services from major reefer ports in the Caribbean, with seamless integration into Maersk’s extensive ocean network through its Panama hub. The service will maintain direct coverage to key Northern European ports and improved feeder connectivity.

Network adjustments alongside the new CAX service:

  • The CLX service will add Santa Marta, Magdalena (Colombia) as the last port in Latin America and Southampton as the first port in Europe. The rotation between Rotterdam and Antwerp will be swapped.
  • COEX and CRX services will be phased out and replaced by the CAX service.
  • Veracruz and Altamira (Mexico) will be served exclusively by the dedicated transatlantic TA4 loop, continuing to offer reliable weekly coverage to Northern Europe.
  • The ECUMED service will remain unchanged.

These network changes are scheduled to take effect from the end of September 2025.
