Shenzhen Port’s Robust Performance Fuels Growth in China’s Foreign Trade

According to data released by Shenzhen Customs, container throughput at Yantian Port exceeded 7.58 million TEUs in the first half of this year, marking a 12.7% increase compared to the same period last year and achieving double-digit growth.

Currently, one of the world’s largest container ships, with a capacity of over 24,000 TEUs, is docked at Shenzhen Yantian Port. Soon, it will depart fully loaded with Chinese-made electromechanical products, electronics, home appliances, furniture, and various manufacturing supplies, calling at ports in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Poland, Germany, and other countries. So far this year, nearly 300 “mega vessels” of this scale have berthed at Yantian Port.

Yantian Port Launches 11 New Shipping Routes This Year

In addition, Yantian Port has opened 11 new shipping routes in 2025. Currently, nearly 100 weekly routes connect Yantian Port tightly with global markets, with an average of four sailings per day to Europe and six to the United States. Shenzhen’s stable and efficient port system provides strong support for foreign trade enterprises to accelerate their growth.

Yantian Port Builds a Global Shipping “Fuel Supply Hub”

Beyond its powerful container handling capacity, another important factor is the refueling services for international vessels.

In the first half of this year alone, LNG fuel bunkering in Yantian district exceeded 310,000 cubic meters — surpassing the total amount bunkered in all of last year — generating nearly 700 million yuan in output value. High-quality and reasonably priced bunkering services are critical for attracting ships to call at the port. This “invisible” competitive edge is helping Shenzhen strengthen its influence in the international shipping industry.
