DHL Supply Chain will lay off 346 employees and shut down its Ontario, California distribution center by the end of August 2025, according to a notice filed with the California Employment Development Department.

DHL spokesperson Marcia McLaughlin confirmed in an email that the facility will close due to a client relocating part of its distribution operations. The closure process will begin on July 1 and be completed by August.

DHL Supply Chain, a division of DHL Group, specializes in warehousing, transportation, and e-commerce fulfillment services. The affected roles include general managers, inventory control supervisors, training supervisors, clerks, mechanics, and approximately 222 pickers, as listed in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice.

Meanwhile, UPS, a DHL competitor, is also downsizing. It plans to close its Holmen facility in La Crosse County, Wisconsin on June 10, eliminating 42 jobs. This move is part of a multi-year initiative to streamline operations by consolidating low-volume sites and increasing automation. UPS aims to close 164 facilities in the first 18 months of the plan, with 73 closures expected by the end of June.
