On April 10, Maersk released a notice on its official website regarding port congestion in Guatemala.

According to the announcement, the operational conditions at Guatemala’s Atlantic ports continue to be severely affected due to increased import and export volumes. Congestion and slow operations at the Puerto Santo Tomás de Castilla have resulted in vessel arrival delays, which in turn have caused outbound delays.

Maersk anticipates continued delays in its South Atlantic Express service over the coming weeks.

At the same time, the port situation has also impacted inland transportation. Access to export equipment is restricted due to limited terminal throughput, and the flow of import pickups is also moving slowly.

Maersk stated it will continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure the supply chain remains operational.

Guatemala's main ports include Puerto San José, Puerto Quetzal, Puerto Barrios, Puerto Santo Tomás de Castilla, Puerto Livingston, and Puerto El Triunfo.
