
GAPIMA Sdn Bhd was established by a group of Bumiputera businessmen from the Dewan Perniagaan Melayu Pulau Pinang back in 1974. It started its business in the f|warding & stevedoring services. Recognising the potential of the company, Konsortium Perkapalan Bhd bought over the company a few years later.
In 1996, GAPIMA Sdn Bhd was appointed as the official Government Freight Forwarders or Multimodal Transport Operator (MTO). With the MTO license, GAPIMA now became an government freight forwarder. At the same, it also started to venture in the shipping agencies activities. At the same time, GAPIMA also holds a Petronas license for freight forwarding, transportation and marine operations. This was when GAPIMA venture into the Oil and Gas industry.
In 2005, GAPIMA was bought over by the UEM Group. Apart from its on-going business, GAPIMA also handled the Group’s logistics requirements which include supply of coal and dredging works for the expansion of the Penang Bridge.
On 8th Sept 2010, Baine Consulting Sdn Bhd bought over GAPIMA from UEM. For now the focus of the new management is on re-structuring the company to make it a respected company in the logistics industry in Malaysia.
GAPIMA’s strength is in project cargo management and the Oil & Gas industry, particularly in providing offshore support logistic services for major oil & gas-related companies and oil exploration and drilling companies. Leveraging on this strength, GAPIMA has expanded its service portfolio into marine logistics in the oil & gas sectors. Today, through business process outsourcing (BPO) and the support of IT logistic systems, GAPIMA is fast becoming a leading 4th Party Logistics (4PL) company, delivering quality services through its shared supply chain platform.
