Located at the mouth of the LAGAN River on the northeast coast of the island of Ireland in the western part of the United Kingdom (full name: THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND), southwest of Belfast Bay, it is the largest seaport in Northern Ireland. In 1992, the container throughput was 186000 TEUs, with an annual cargo throughput capacity of approximately 30 million tons.
