Port nature: Fjord Port, with duty-free warehouses, basic port (M) Port location: Located on the west coast of Algeciras Bay, northeast of the GIBRALTAR Strait on the southern coast of Spain (full name: SPAIN Spain), it is the largest container port and crude oil import port in Spain. Located at the crossroads between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the geographical location is extremely important. There is a railway connecting to the interior of Spain and a ferry service between Morocco. The climate here is pleasant, the beach is beautiful, and there are mineral springs. It is a winter resort with developed tourism and fishing industries. The port is approximately 120km away from the nearest airport in Malaga. Natural conditions: The port has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with prevailing westerly winds and an average annual temperature of 24-26 ℃ for the hottest and 8-13 ℃ for the coldest. It is rainy in winter, with an average annual rainfall of about 1000mm. The average tidal range is 0.3m. The main dock berths in the port area are as follows: Dock name, number of berths, shoreline length (m), maximum water depth (m) BULK CARGO 6 1643 14 Container 6 1583 14 General Cargo 3 540 10.5 OIL QUAY 5 1380 20 R0/RO (roll on/roll off) 2 330 10.5 There are various types of loading and unloading equipment such as shore cranes, mobile cranes, container cranes, arm cranes, and roll on/roll off facilities, as well as oil pipelines with diameters ranging from 101.6 to 304.8 for loading and unloading petroleum. At the MONOBUOY offshore berth, a giant oil tanker with a depth of up to 60m can accommodate 500000 deadweight tons. It has an underwater oil pipeline with a diameter of 1066.8mm and a loading and unloading rate of 12000 cubic meters per hour. In addition to crude oil, the main imported goods include coal, wood, steel, cement, pulp, and groceries. The main exported goods include grains, grass, cork, fish meal, paper, canned fish, citrus, and petroleum products. Due to the frequent use of this port as a transit port for containers by Denmark's Maersk Line and the United States' intermodal transport company, the port's container throughput in 1994 reached 1.003 million TEUs (of which 88% were transit containers), an increase of 24.4% compared to 1993, ranking first among all container ports along the Mediterranean coast. Most of the containers are transshipped to the Mediterranean region and African countries. The annual cargo throughput of the port is about 35 million tons. In order to further develop container business in the future, the port authorities plan to extend the dock shoreline by 600m and expand the dock area to 100000 square meters.
