Port Introduction
Located on the northwest coast of Saint Lucia (full name: Saint Lucia SAINT LUCIA), in the central part of the WINDW ARD archipelago, on the east side of the Caribbean Sea (CARIBBEAN SEA), Saint Lucia's largest port. Saint Lucia was occupied by France as early as 1651 and officially became a British colony under the Treaty of Paris in 1814. In February 1979, it declared independence and became a member state of the League of Nations. The port is the capital of Saint Lucia and a distribution center for imported and exported goods throughout the country. There are abundant geothermal resources. Agriculture plays a major role in the national economy, followed by manufacturing and tourism. The main agricultural products are bananas and coconuts, as well as cocoa, spices, and other fruits. The port is about 2km away from the airport and there are regular flights. The port has a tropical rainforest climate with prevailing northwest winds. May to October is the windy season. The annual average temperature is about 27 ℃. The average annual rainfall is about 1300mm, with the highest rainfall in June. The average tide height is 0.4m, with a maximum of 0.6m. There are 7 main dock berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 1009m and a maximum water depth of 10m. The loading and unloading equipment includes movable cranes, tugboats, and roll on/roll off facilities, among which the maximum lifting capacity of movable cranes is 140 tons, and the maximum power of tugboats is 1030kW. The storage area of the port area is 194000 ∧<2>. The container yard can store 3500TEU. The average efficiency of unloading bulk cargo is 15 tons per shift per hour. The export goods are mainly primary agricultural products, while the import goods mainly include grain, oil, machinery, food, and industrial products. The main trading partners are the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and member countries of the Caribbean Community. Not working during holidays such as Christmas, Good Friday, and Labor Day.
