Port Introduction

Korsakov is an important port city in Sakhalin Oblast, Far Eastern Federal District, Russia. It is the second largest city in Sakhalin Oblast after South Sakhalinsk and also a Russian naval base. geographical location Korsakov Port is located in the southern part of Sakhalin Island (Sakhalin Island), adjacent to Hokkaido, Japan. It is situated on the northern coast of Aniva Bay (Yatin Bay), at longitude 142 ° 46'59.17 "east and latitude 46 ° 38'5.71" north. Divided into internal and external ports. The depth of the inner harbor is about 3 meters. The outer harbor has a water depth of 4.6-8.2 meters and can accommodate cargo ships of up to 10000 tons. The period from late January to March of the following year is the freezing period, which belongs to the irregular diurnal tide. history Originally part of Chinese territory, the entire Sakhalin Island was ceded to Russia in the 1860 Beijing Treaty. The southern coast of Kuye Island was initially settled by Japanese fishermen, and the first group of Russians settled in the northern part of the island in 1853. In 1855, Russia and Japan signed the Treaty of Portsmouth, sharing sovereignty over the island. However, in 1875, Russia acquired all of Sakhalin Island at the cost of ceding the Kuril Islands to Japan. The result of the Russo Japanese War led Japan to acquire the part of the island south of 50 degrees north latitude in 1905 and named it Huatai Island. During the Japanese occupation period, it was called Dabo.
