DOHA

Located in the central part of the east coast of Qatar (full name: The State of Qatar), adjacent to the southwest side of the Persian Gulf, it is the largest port in Qatar. Originally a gathering port for pearl ships, after World War II, with the increasing prosperity of the petroleum industry, the port continued to expand and modernize. It is now the capital of Qatar and the national political, economic, and cultural center. Main industries include petroleum and chemical industries. The port is about 6km away from the airport and there are regular flights to various parts of Europe and Asia. The port has a tropical desert climate with prevailing west northwest winds. The annual average temperature ranges from 18 to 30 ℃, with the highest reaching 45 ℃. The average annual rainfall is about 120mm. The average tidal height is 1.5m for high tide and 0.4m for low tide. There are 9 main berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 1829m and a maximum water depth of 9.1m. The loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, container cranes, cross loading and unloading machines, and tugboats, among which the maximum lifting capacity of the shore crane is 70 tons. The warehouse area is approximately 48000 m ∧<2>. The anchorage of the large ship has a water depth of 15 meters. In 1991, the container throughput between the port and UMM SAID port reached 129000 TEUs. The main imported goods are grain, building materials, and timber, while the main exported goods are petroleum.
