Santos is a free port in Brazil. Santos is located on the northeast side of the island of S ã o Vicente in southeastern Brazil, more than 60 kilometers northwest of Sao Paulo. Sea route northeast to Rio de Janeiro (RIO DE JANEIRO) 210 nautical miles, to Salvador (SALVADOR) 927 nautical miles; 880 nautical miles southwest to Montevideo and 1010 nautical miles southwest to Buenos Aires; To the east of Cape Town is 3416 nautical miles. The Santos port area extends more than 10 kilometers northwest southeast of the island, with a main dock line of over 8 kilometers, including an international general cargo dock line of 4070 meters and a liquid cargo dock line of 1512 meters. The dry bulk cargo terminal line is 1809 meters long, and the container terminal line is 510 meters long. The water depth at the forefront extends from the north of Saint Vincent Island to 7 meters in front of warehouses 1-12 in the southeast, 11 meters in front of warehouses 12-22 in the southeast, 8 meters in warehouses 24-27, 11 meters in warehouses 29-37, 13 meters in warehouses 38-39, and 12 meters at the terminal of the "T" shaped embankment in Alemoya in the northwest. The water depth at the front of Saboo Pier and Balnabi Island on the opposite bank is 10 meters. The container terminal and fertilizer wharf on the east side of the entrance channel have a water depth of 13 meters. SANTOS can accommodate more than 50 ocean going ships simultaneously in Hong Kong, making it the largest throughput port in Brazil and the largest container throughput port in Brazil. It imports mainly oil, coal, fertilizers, and grains, and exports mainly agricultural products such as coffee, soybeans, citrus, and cotton, making it the world's largest coffee export port. The export value accounts for 2/3 of the national total, while the import value accounts for about 2/5 of the national total. Many imported products from landlocked countries Bolivia and Paraguay are transshipped here.
