Port Introduction

Port on the Amazon River in the northeastern part of Peru's Loreto Province. Adopting the West 5th district. The maximum draft is 7.92 meters, and the load density of water is 1000. The tidal range is about 2.03 meters, with prevailing southeast trade winds. There are no official navigators in the port, only two navigators from the shipping company serving their own ships. Like all Peruvian ports, ship owners or their agents must report the estimated arrival time of the ship to the port authorities at least 24 hours before the ship arrives. Communication is conducted through Kayao Radio. There are telephone and telegraph receiving devices in the port, as well as daily flights to and from Lima, all of which can transmit information. Working hours are from 07:00 to 12:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00. If overtime is required, work from 18:00 to 23:00. The night shift is from 00:00 to 07:00, with an additional 100% salary paid. There is a union of 80 loading and unloading workers here who can provide labor services. Ocean going vessels can reach the port of Iquitos throughout the year, with a maximum depth of 7.92 meters during the flood season from November to June of the following year. The maximum water depth from July to October each year is 5.49 meters. Apart from the floating dock in Iquitos, there are no other serious issues that limit the length of ships. Iquitos Port is susceptible to fluctuations at the mouth of the Amazon River, despite its own water depth of 18.29 meters and a minimum water depth of 7.62 meters at the forefront of the loading and unloading buoy dock. The highest water level occurs in March and April each year, while the low water level occurs in August and September each year, and even continues until October. Under normal circumstances, vessels with a length of 134.12 meters are capable of normal loading and unloading operations. Due to the meandering flow at the end of the river, the maximum length is limited to 152.4 meters. 1931.1 kilometers downstream. It is the port of Manaus in Brazil, but the waterway often changes and is even unreliable because sandbars continue to form and the ferry crossing often accumulates. The maximum water depth that can be measured during the dry season is 5.49 meters, while in other seasons the water depth can reach 7.92 meters. There are at least 12 shallow crossings on this route, without buoys or other ship markers for navigation. There are usually two navigators on each ship, who are familiar with various symptoms of the ocean currents. There are no navigation charts, and in fact, there are no charts, although the Peruvian Navy's chart mapping station in Iquitos often detects these ferry crossings and river sections. Navigation is usually sustainable, but if darkness falls during the voyage, the shrewd navigator will anchor and wait for dawn. During the 10-12 day voyage from the Amazon River estuary port of BELEM in Brazil, there may be two mooring waits (the next 6-8 days). The river section from Manaus to Beren is quite stable, with a water depth of 9.14 meters, and some sections are even deeper. The river surface of Iquitos Port is 600 meters wide and filled with berths for river boats. However, the port only has one floating dock, where fresh water supply can be obtained at night, but in limited quantities. There are always some barges in the port, and many small boats can also be used for loading and unloading goods. No need to use a tugboat for mooring. The price of supplies is very expensive because everything must be transported from the West Coast.
