Port Introduction

Kobe is located on the northwest coast of Osaka Bay. The population is over 1.3 million. For nearly half a century, it has been the largest seaport (surpassed by Yokohama in the 1970s and jumped to first place in 1978), with various docks and shipyards, 13 shipping routes to over 120 countries, more than 230 berths of various sizes, and the ability to dock 250 ships at the same time every day. Kobe is also the largest container port in Japan, with a throughput of over 3 million tons in recent years. The Kobe Artificial Island Terminal is known as a new type of terminal in the 21st century, with 12 container berths, 15 regular boatman berths, and 1 hazardous materials berth on the edge of the island. There is also a large parking lot and numerous warehouses near the terminal. Kobe Industries is particularly prominent in food, steel, machinery, and vehicle manufacturing, and is also the gateway to the Hanshin Industrial Zone. The imported goods are mainly clothing, cotton, and petroleum products, while the exported goods are mainly synthetic fiber products, machinery, steel, plastics, etc. The annual throughput of the port is about 150 million tons It is the main port of call in China.
