Port Introduction

Located on the northwest shore of Ontario Lake in southeastern Canada (full name: CANADA), approximately 260 miles northeast of Montreal Port, it is one of Canada's major ports. Established as a trading port and fortress by French colonizers as early as 1750, it is now the capital of Ontario and one of the national centers for finance, commerce, industry, and culture. There are 22 banks, 25 trust company headquarters, and the Toronto Stock Exchange in the city, ranking third among all exchanges in North America. It is an important hub for goods distribution in Canada, with railway lines leading directly to the western coastal port of Vancouver, providing favorable conditions for international multimodal transport. It is close to the capital city of Ottawa and the port of Montreal, and is only a 9-hour drive from the port of New York in the United States. Industry is second only to Montreal, with major industries including machinery manufacturing, meat processing, electrical equipment, printing, chemistry, and clothing. The port is also a convergence point of Eastern and Western cultures, where various ethnic groups can maintain their excellent culture and art. The University of Toronto, the largest higher education institution in the country, has over 100 buildings, earning it the nickname of "Cultural City". The port also has the world's tallest Canadian National Television Tower, standing at 553m and known as a representative of advanced building technology. The port is about 27km away from the international airport and there are regular flights to various parts of the world every day. The port has a temperate continental climate, with an average temperature of about -9 ℃ in January and about 20 ℃ in July. During the winter when the St. Lawrence River freezes over, the open season for ships is from early April to December 20th. The average annual rainfall is about 120Omm. This port includes the western part of the inner and outer ports. There are 20 main berths in the port area, with a shoreline length of 3490m and a maximum water depth of 9.2m. The loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, mobile cranes, floating cranes, container cranes, and roll on/roll off facilities. The maximum lifting capacity of the shore crane is 300 tons, and there is also a 200mm diameter oil pipeline for loading and unloading. The warehouse area in the port area is 80000 square meters, and the cargo yard area is 356000 square meters. The container terminal has container handling vehicles with 40ft frames, with a maximum lifting capacity of 56 tons, which can load and unload 20ft and 40ft containers. The Canadian National Railway Company (CN) has currently opened double decker container trains between Halifax/Toronto/Montreal ports, which can reduce the weight of transportation vehicles and lower fuel costs. In 1992, the container throughput of falcons was 19000 TEU, with an annual cargo throughput capacity of approximately 15 million tons. The main export goods are steel pipes, grains, scrap steel, petroleum products, finished products, and miscellaneous goods, while the imported goods mainly include coal, cement, steel, machinery, sugar, grains, flour, petroleum products, and miscellaneous goods. Working during holidays requires paying double the fee.
