PSA Halifax recently announced the launch of the AMERIGO service, a new service jointly operated CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping Lines, OOCL, and ONE, with the inaugural call of the CMA CGM AMBITION at the PSA Hal Atlantic Hub Terminal on November 25, 2025.
The AMERIGO service will strengthen the direct trade connection between the Mediterranean and North America, providing exporters and importers with more options and better connections. The service includes calls at key Mediterranean gateways such as Salerno, La Spezia, Genoa, V Ligure, Valencia, Algeciras, as well as major ports on the U.S. East Coast, including New York, Norfolk, Savannah, and Miami.
"The inaugural call of the AMERIGO service in Halifax underscores our commitment to enhancing global trade flows," said Duncan Glass, Managing Director of PSA Halifax "This new service provides our customers with more options, faster transit times, and a reliable network of liner services between the Mediterranean, Southern Europe, and Canada via Halifax, while seamless connections to Montreal, Toronto, and the Midwest of the United States via the extensive rail network of Canadian National."
The introduction of the AMERIGO service also rein the growing importance of PSA Halifax as a strategic cold-chain gateway. The service utilizes PSA Halifax's quick rail solutions, which will transfer time-sensitive refriger cargoes such as citrus fruits directly from vessels to rail for onward journey to inland markets on the same day. This has been made possible through close coordination and cooperation amongSA Halifax, Canadian National Railway, and the Halifax Port Authority.

The CMA CGM AMBITION is a 7327 TEU LNG-powered containership, part of CMA CGM's new generation of eco- vessels designed to support global maritime decarbonization efforts.
