On November 20th, under the comprehensive and continuous maintenance and support of the Nantong maritime department, a super-large container - the OOCL "Nantong Kawasaki 426" - which was meticulously crafted by a local Nantong shipbuilding company, slowly departed from the of the Yangtze River in Jiangsu, officially embarking on a brand-new journey of sea trials.


It is understood that this "giant" has length of 366.99 meters, a beam of 51 meters, and a deadweight tonnage of up to 160,00 tons. Its maximum container capacity can reach 16,148 standard boxes. It is one of the largest container ship types that can currently navigate smoothly through the new locks the Panama Canal and occupies an important position in the same type of vessels.


The ship type integrates a number of energy-saving technologies at the forefront of the industry, its single box energy consumption index has reached the leading international level, demonstrating the outstanding achievements of China's shipbuilding in the field of energy saving and environmental protection.


During sea trial period, the Nantong maritime department fully utilized the advantages of the "big traffic management" system with all elements of water, and implemented precise traffic organization and strict of vessel navigation. Ten patrol boats, tugboats, and patrol boats were dispatched on-site to escort the "Nantong Kawasaki 426", ensuring that it could sail safely and steadily in a complex and changeable navigation environment, and providing solid support for the smooth progress of the sea trial work
