CMA CGM has announced the appointment of Neusa Marcelino as Managing Director of ANL Container Line and General Manager of CMA CGM Oceania Agencies. Based in Melbourne, Australia, she will oversee CMA CGM’s operations across Oceania and lead ANL’s strategy, operations, and business development. The appointment comes as ANL marks its 70th anniversary. Following several management changes this year, Marcelino’s appointment marks a new management phase for the Australian shipping brand.

Oceania operations: She will also oversee CMA CGM’s business across Oceania.

CMA CGM experience: Marcelino has worked for CMA CGM for more than 11 years and previously managed operations in Brazil and South America.

Neusa Marcelino Formally Assumes Leadership of ANL

According to ANL, Neusa Marcelino has been appointed Managing Director of ANL Container Line and General Manager of CMA CGM Oceania Agencies. Based in Melbourne, Australia, she will oversee the CMA CGM Group’s operations across Oceania while leading ANL’s strategy, operations, and business development.

The appointment is not limited to a change in ANL’s leadership. Marcelino’s responsibility for both the ANL brand and CMA CGM’s Oceania operations means the two businesses will continue to work closely at the regional management level.

Neusa Marcelino Previously Managed South American Operations

Neusa Marcelino has worked for the CMA CGM Group for more than 11 years and has held management positions in Southern Africa and South America. Before moving to Oceania, she served as General Manager of CMA CGM Brazil and Managing Director of the East Coast South America Cluster, gaining extensive experience in regional commercial and operational management.

Her move from South America to Oceania places her in charge of a region covering Australia, New Zealand, and several Pacific island markets. These markets differ in their trade structures, port conditions, and customer requirements. Her regional management experience will provide an important foundation for her new role.

ANL Marks Its 70th Anniversary Following Several Management Changes

ANL marks its 70th anniversary in 2026. As an Australian shipping brand with a long operating history, ANL now operates its regional business through CMA CGM’s global network. The appointment of a new Managing Director at this point gives the leadership change additional significance.

ANL has also undergone several management changes this year. After Shane Walden stepped down at the end of May, Esra Bora took over but returned to Türkiye approximately three months later for personal reasons. Bo Wegener temporarily oversaw ANL’s operations before Neusa Marcelino formally assumed the role. Following these changes, ANL’s Oceania management team once again has a new leader.

CMA CGM’s Oceania Operations Enter a New Phase

Australia and the wider Oceania region are important markets within the Asia-Pacific shipping network. Australia is a major exporter of commodities such as iron ore, coal, and agricultural products. It is also an important import and consumer market in the Asia-Pacific region. For CMA CGM, its Oceania operations cover not only Australia but also New Zealand and several Pacific island markets.

By appointing Neusa Marcelino, who has regional management experience in South America, to oversee both ANL and CMA CGM’s Oceania operations, the Group is continuing to manage ANL’s regional operations and its wider Oceania business within a closely coordinated structure. ANL’s liner service operations, customer service, and regional business development will be among the key areas for the new Managing Director.
