On 7 January, the Swedish-owned roll-on/roll-off cargo ship "Tundraland" collided with the south bank of Kiel Canal near the Breiholz ferry terminal. There were no reports of injuries or pollution.

The accident occurred at approximately 03:00 local time as the ship was approaching the Breiholz lock. Reports from the authorities state that the ship suddenly turned towards the south bank of the canal and collided with it.

Despite the collision, the ship was not damaged and was able to free itself from the bank, continuing on its journey towards Brunsbüttel under its own power, in with the traffic control centre, at approximately 03:30.

Upon arrival in Brunsbüttel, the ship docked for a further inspection.ivers were also sent to inspect the underwater hull for any damage and signs of impact.

The initial findings of the investigation by the Kiel Water Police indicate that a possible technical may have led to the sudden change in course, although the investigation is ongoing.

The Tundraland is a roll-on/roll-off cargo ship built in2007, measuring 190.7 meters in length and 26.44 meters in width.
