Today (April 15), China’s shipbuilding industry marked a major milestone—the official delivery of the world’s largest 24,000-TEU dual-fuel container ship. This event signifies a new era for China’s capabilities in constructing dual-fuel container vessels. The “super cargo king of the seas” will be deployed on the Far East to Europe route, setting a new benchmark for green transformation in global maritime transport.

This dual-fuel container ship can carry up to 220,000 tons of cargo in a single voyage. The 24,000 containers it can transport stack up to the equivalent height of a 25-story building, making it a true “skyscraper of the seas.” Powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), it boasts a single-voyage range of nearly 20,000 nautical miles, sufficient to cover the world’s major shipping routes. The vessel was independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).

It is reported that CSSC will build an additional three 24,000-TEU dual-fuel container ships in the near future.

China’s breakthroughs in the ultra-large container ship sector are accelerating at full speed, once again setting new records and demonstrating the nation’s transformation from a shipbuilding giant into a shipbuilding powerhouse.
