Dutch authorities swiftly responded after the container ship VICTORIA L caught fire following an explosion approximately 30 nautical miles west of Scheveningen, Netherlands.

The vessel, carrying 19 crew members and no cargo at the time of the incident, reported the fire at 14:45 local time on Wednesday. The crew initially attempted to extinguish the flames, with no injuries reported.

When a Dutch Coast Guard aircraft arrived for initial assessment, only minimal smoke was visible.

After the captain requested assistance, the Dutch Coast Guard mobilized its Maritime Incident Response Group (MIRG-NL). A specialized firefighting team was airlifted to the vessel via helicopter, while a second helicopter remained on standby at a nearby oil platform.

Multiple organizations coordinated the emergency response, including Coast Guard aircraft, the Multraship Protector, Arca, and KNRM lifeboats.

As of Wednesday evening, the fire had been extinguished, and the first responders disembarked. According to the latest updates, the firefighting team is assessing the situation aboard the VICTORIA L. The incident remains ongoing, with authorities continuing to monitor the situation.

The VICTORIA L is a Liberia-flagged, German-owned container ship. At the time of the incident, it was en route from Hamburg to Rotterdam.
