According to the Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration, at approximately 2:50 a.m. on March 29, 2025, a collision occurred between the vessels Ningyuan Beilun and Jianghai Zhida 66 near Xiaomao Island in the offshore waters of Ningbo. The incident resulted in the sinking of Jianghai Zhida 66.


As of 6:50 a.m. that morning, all 13 people who fell overboard had been rescued. Among them, one was found with no signs of life, three were taken to the hospital for treatment, and the remaining nine were confirmed to be safe. The crew and vessel of Ningyuan Beilun were reported to be unharmed.


Follow-up response and investigation efforts are currently underway.


About Jianghai Zhida 66


A 14,000 DWT river-sea direct bulk carrier primarily used for transporting bulk cargo such as ore, coal, and grain. The vessel measures 129.70 meters in length, 22.60 meters in beam, and 9.50 meters in depth. It is certified to navigate specified routes 1-1, 1-2, and inland A-class waterways. The ship was built by Zhako Shipyard in Daishan County, Zhoushan, and was delivered in June 2023.

About Ningyuan Beilun


A 934-TEU container ship operated by Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. It measures 136 meters in length, 25 meters in beam, and has a draft of 5.2 meters. Ningyuan Beilun was officially delivered in February 2025 by Taizhou Jianxing Shipyard.

On March 29, the Zhejiang Maritime Safety Administration issued a navigation warning, advising passing vessels to exercise caution and ensure maritime safety.
