On March 15, the maiden voyage ceremony for the China Fangchenggang—Cambodia Kampong Port “Cold Chain + General Cargo” route was held at Fangchenggang Container Terminal. This marks the latest achievement of practical cooperation between China and Cambodia under the “Belt and Road” initiative, and also signifies a breakthrough upgrade in the sea-land intermodal transport corridor between China’s western region and ASEAN countries, injecting new momentum into the integration of regional industrial and supply chains.

The route runs directly from Fangchenggang to Kampong International Port, initially deploying two 5,000-6,000 ton multipurpose vessels, each with a container capacity of over 200 TEUs. Compared to traditional transshipment modes, the direct route takes only 7 days, improving efficiency by over 50% and reducing overall logistics costs by about 20%. After the route is launched, products from China, including fertilizers, steel, building materials, daily necessities, and vegetables, will be more conveniently and quickly transported to Cambodia for sale, while China will also import agricultural products from Cambodia such as rice, bananas, mangoes, cassava, cashews, corn, palm oil, and pepper.

As the market expands, the frequency of sailings will be increased based on actual demand, and more vessel capacity will be投入 to further improve transportation efficiency. In the future, this route is expected to attract more transshipment cargo from countries like Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.
