With the addition of the 2,433 TEU vessel Little Concert (built in 2023) to its chartered fleet, Hapag-Lloyd has surpassed 1 million TEU in chartered capacity for the first time in its history.

The Little Concert was chartered from Greek shipowner Minerva and has joined the Taiwan Express (TWX) service, connecting Singapore, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and Tanjung Pelepas.

With this latest acquisition, the German carrier’s chartered fleet capacity has slightly exceeded 1 million TEU, and the company plans to maintain this level as it continues expanding its global network.

"We will continue to modernize our fleet, which not only enables us to provide reliable transport solutions for our customers and uphold our quality-first commitment but also supports our new 'Gemini Cooperation' goal of achieving 90% schedule reliability," said Philipp Joerss, Senior Director of Fleet Portfolio Management. "Most importantly, these modern and efficient vessels contribute to our decarbonization target of reducing absolute CO₂ emissions by one-third by 2030."

Last month, Hapag-Lloyd announced that it would use green financing for the 24 large container ships it ordered in October 2024.
