On January 22, local time, the Houthi forces in Yemen announced that they would release the crew of the "Galaxy Leader," who had been previously detained. Subsequently, these crew members will be handed over to the Omani side.

The Houthi forces stated that this decision was made under the mediation of Oman and Hamas and is a concrete measure to support the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Tracing back to November 19, 2023, the "Galaxy Leader," a cargo ship sailing normally in the Red Sea, along with its crew, was detained by the Houthi forces in Yemen.

After this incident, several international maritime organizations successively issued statements, strongly urging the Houthi forces to release the detained crew members. However, the Houthi forces had previously maintained a firm stance, declaring that they would not cease their attacks on ships related to Israel at sea, nor would they release the detained vessels and crew, until Israel stopped its attacks on the Gaza Strip and lifted the blockade on the Gaza Strip.

The announcement of the release of the crew this time is a new measure taken by the Houthi forces under the mediation of relevant parties to support the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
