When Newlane Logistics was assigned to move two dump truck back panels for a Sandvik TH540 underground mining truck, the shipment required immediate action.

The cargo was urgently required in Malaysia, leaving very little time for planning and execution.

The cargo was moving from Nhava Sheva, India to Port Klang, Malaysia and consisted of two oversized structural components weighing over 12 tons. Their irregular dimensions and center of gravity meant the cargo could not be handled with standard securing methods.

Loaded on a 40 ft flat rack container, the panels exceeded standard dimensions by 30 cm on both sides and 18 cm in height, making it a classic Out of Gauge OOG shipment.

After conducting a pre loading survey, our team determined that conventional lashing would not be sufficient. While most OOG cargo uses 10 to 12 lashing points, these mining components required a reinforced securing plan.

To ensure safe transport across the Arabian Sea during the monsoon season, the cargo was secured using:

• 14 heavy duty nylon belts
• 20 ratchets
• 28 lashing points
• Wooden chocks for additional stability

This arrangement prevented forward movement, side rolling, and vibration during turbulent sea conditions.

The cargo received OOFG approval, was cleared, secured, and loaded in record time treating it as a time critical cargo, ensuring the urgent shipment moved without delay.
