The “Grande Argentina”, a vessel operated by the Italian Grimaldi Group, encountered a fire incident at the Port Hamburg, which was promptly brought under control without causing any casualties.

On September 15th, the Ro-Ro/ConRo vessel “Grande Argentina”, the flag of Malta, was berthed at the O'Swaldekai terminal in the Port of Hamburg when a small fire broke out on board.

According the accident record and local reports, at around 17:30 local time, a truck on the upper outer deck began emitting smoke and flames. The deck where the fire was fully loaded with vehicles at the time.

The crew responded immediately, swiftly deploying two C-class fire hoses to extinguish the flames, successfully putting out the fire it could spread further.

As a precautionary measure, more than 40 firefighters arrived at the scene. The firefighting team conducted a thorough inspection of the to rule out any potential remaining sources of fire and confirmed that there was no further danger.

No injuries or damage to cargo have been reported by the authorities so far, and investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.

As of the morning of September 16th, according to Automatic Identification System (AIS) data the vessel remained docked at the terminal.

By the afternoon of September 17th, AIS showed the vessel was underway to the Port of Dakar.
