Maersk has officially launched operations in Milazzo, further strengthening its network connectivity in southern Italy.
Milazzo’s strategic location, near the Strait of Messina, provides more convenient access to both Sicily and Calabria, making it a competitive addition to Maersk’s service network.
This new service began on July 17, 2025, with the maiden voyage of m/n Sider London via the Cagliari hub. Cargo operations will take place at the Duferco Terminal Mediterraneo (DTM)—the first private container and multipurpose terminal in Sicily—located in the Giammoro industrial area.
The service accommodates dry standard, refrigerated, IMO (excluding classes 1 and 7), and out-of-gauge containers, seamlessly integrating with Maersk’s inland transportation solutions to ensure end-to-end efficiency.
